I love psychology, breathe cyber
It turns out you CAN'T have it all. You can either solve a technical problem at work OR not ruin your pork roast meals for the week by unplugging the crockpot and leaving it so 5+ hours without thinking because your brain was on the work problem. Not both.
Just heard about the Cisco layoffs. This industry makes me sick sometimes. Remember, it's not because the company is struggling, it's because they're greedy and want to tipthe balance in favor of the employer vs the employee.
"Return-to-past" mandates: If you want to do nothing for your company's bottom line but make your employees unhappy, then issue a return-to-office mandate. Study of 457 S&P firms finds no financial boost in firms w/ RTO mandates compared to firms without a mandate.

No, office mandates don’t help companies make more money, study finds

New research shows that return-to-office mandates don’t play any role in a company’s financial performance, but do have negative side effects for its workforce.

My work is mandating return to office so I too will be "quiet quitting" and not working a minute beyond the requisite 8 hours. If anyone has room for a Canadian with a super good analytical brain, great organizational skills, expertise in SOC and threat hunting, who has dabbled in threat intel and would love to do more of that in future, and who tends to put in more work than is asked of her (unless screwed over by her employer so all love for the job is lost), then I'm your gal. #jobsearch #cybersecurity Also I'm bad at interviews but every single one of my employers has called me a "rockstar" at multiple points in my career, for what it's worth.
Oh, also NWT, chill with the use of the word "prescribed" for everything

I have now looked through every Canadian province/territory's health information privacy acts and regulations, and here are my biggest conclusions:
1) these all suck
2) your health information isn't that protected depending on who holds it, such as employers
3) whoever wrote the Health Information Act for Northwest Territories was either on their deathbed or on crack when they wrote it, and the Hospital Insurance and Health and Social Services Administration Act is crap. The acts both have some endless looping.
4) PEI has by far the most adorable Act and attendant website/materials and is my favourite (though it seems a tad broad compared to others - not a complaint, just an observation!)

Sidebar, PIPEDA has a line to define the meaning of "should" and I feel like that was put in there passive-aggressively, and I enjoy the heck out of it.

Wanting in-office work instead of fully remote for a cloud security position strikes me as extra silly
