@emilymbender It occurs to me that we are in a similar situation as when the atomic bomb was being developed. Researchers then were aware of the catastrophic consequences. I think we are nearing the potential for similar catastrophic consequences with AI. Not the Hollywood version, but something far more insidious -- deepfakes that cause political instability, social unrest and international incidents.
@zamallama@emilymbender It's realatively easy to spot a photoshopped image, but probably less so for AI output. For many devs, the focus of the technology seems to be to make it undetectable, not to make it useful.
