And I’m calling specifically on people who have worked hard to make SEO inclusive, people who like to speak around the world about SEO, don’t allow this content to be unchallenged. It lets us down. It’s not what we stand for.
Certain companies seem to be encouraging their employees to post this type of content. This is extremely insidious, it has no place in our community and needs to be pushed out. Palestinians should be as welcome as any other person into the SEO and wider tech community.
People can have opinions whether certain content is dehumanising or not, and that’s ok, but take a look and if you see prejudice, if you see a group being referred to as less than, this is no different to any other form of racism. Racism should not be accepted.
If we say (rightly) we must create a welcoming atmosphere in SEO for women, for people of colour, to stop Islamophobia etc then this must extend to everyone. It’s not good enough to say you champion inclusion and turn a blind eye to dehumanising content towards Palestinians. #SEO
I just.. morals are morals. It’s exceptionally difficult to stay engaged on X. I have disengaged.
