@clew I do not have good examples at hand right now, sorry. I'd need simple timelines containing punctual events and time spans - at best the line would be proportional, so that you can see clusters/times without anything happen.

I am using linux systems for twenty years now, but online tools would work too. We are going digital at school, so I don't have to fit the timelines on a b/w paper page (but of course being able to would be a bonus for certain use cases).

@deraffe This looks interesting (and I especially like the name and the simple syntax) but I don't know if it is the right tool for my usecase ... the layout with the entries having their own kind of progress downwards seems contraintuitve for me. But I'll play around with it a bit. Thank you.
@tivasyk Thank you very much. This tool was suggested several times, so I'll definitely look into it.
@lavaeolus Wow, these look amazing! histomania.com seems it could be used by students to create their own timelines. Thank you.
@quidcumque I don't know if we ought to call Hanno an Epicurean, but yes, he is *the* gladiator. 🙂
I'd like to read an in-depth interpretation on #Gladiator2 in context of the decline of American democracy & hegemony, though. Maybe in a couple of years, then.

Well, Ridley Scott made #Gladiator, again. The sequel is literally full of quotes from the original movie without really adding something new until the very end. Basically, #Gladiator2 is the version where the protagonist wins.

The production itself is poor beside the grand imperial imagery. There's better CGI out there than those uncanny baboons or sharks, better acting than Mescal's and Pascal's (although I liked Washington's Macrinus for most of the film) & better writing for sure.

@quidcumque It's just indirect, but as long as I am not mistaken definitely Epicurean and not Stoic: "Where we are, death is not. Where death is, we are not." Especially intriguing: This is uttered by a descendant (and second hand pupil) of Marcus Aurelius. 😄
Fifty minutes in and we had quotes from Epicurus, Vergil and Cicero already. #Gladiator2
