Experimenting with my own Mastodon instance.

Therefore, I will lock this account and redirect it to @rob

@paul & @JPEGuin I'm experimenting with @dv's tutorial to set up my own Mastodon instance and am able to use that in @ivory & @mammoth 😄

However, both your Apps show the WEB_DOMAIN (mastodon.domain.com) instead of the LOCAL_DOMAIN (domain.com) in the configured Accounts section. Is that correct/expected?

(Mastodon itself uses the LOCAL_DOMAIN)

@dv Got a bit further after ssh-ing into the Oracle Cloud VM and manually running `docker-compose up`.

Next, initial setup command did not work for me, but this did: `docker-compose run --rm web bundle exec rake mastodon:setup`

Think I have my own instance up and running now?! (no backups configured yet)

@dv I'm (finally) trying to set up my personal Mastodon instance using your guide on https://github.com/faevourite/mastodon-oracle-cloud-free-tier

I'm new to most of these tools...

What am I doing wrong?

Recovering from covid. I’ve never had a cold before that would attack in multiple places, move on, attack other combinations, circle back, as if conducted by a malevolent intelligence.

One of the top four worst illnesses of my life. So much pain.

@philnash I'm trying to use philnash/jekyll-mastodon_webfinger on my Jekyll website (which is all new to me), but I don't see the `.well-know` folder within the `_site` folder after running `bundle exec jekyll serve`.

I'm currently using the Minimal Mistakes theme. Is that conflicting with your plugin?

Or is this a user error? (More likely!)

PS: the example you give with your own site does not seem to work at this moment?

A reminder, if you own your own domain you can quickly setup webfinger like this https://www.hanselman.com/.well-known/webfinger (can just be a static file, or dynamic) so that if someone searches mastodon (use me as an example) for @shanselman then it will call out to my domain, find me, and tell you my aliases, which is my account at hachyderm.io. Cool eh? Should take you just a few min to implement!

@JPEGuin @mammothapp Of course my initial thought was that I have configured something wrong, but that timeline is showing posts in the official Mastodon App, Twidere X, Metatext, Mastoot, and Tusker 😀

Hope Mammoth will soon show it as well!

@JPEGuin @mammothapp However, the Home timeline remains empty, while posts are shown on the profile page?

@JPEGuin @mammothapp My mistake...

I use NextDNS and block newly registered domains, including my own... 🤣
