Agreed. Just bought a steam deck and the price of games is soooo much cheaper. My PS5 only has 2 titles on it after 5 years that were built to be originally and natively on the ps5 hardware. Spider-Man 2 and Helldivers 2. Everything else is an upscaled PS4 game or even lower spec than that.
Empathetic people can detect animal emotions without needing a computer to help them
Definitely going to “reach” people by being an asshole. Good luck failing before you start, since you clearly haven’t.
“Clinging to” and “recognizing people are overwhelmingly stupid, mean and selfish - especially in large groups” are not really the same.
Nice try, AI
Because there are 8 billion people on the planet and those chatting about this stuff on the internet are a very small subset of people. Unless someone is investing time to learn about this stuff, odds are they won’t hear about it elsewhere. I hate to say it, but I’m probably checking out of actively checking out current events. 20+ years of internet access has taught me this stuff has been happening for a while and there’s nothing I can do about it and no one cares enough to do anything about it as a group. The current US president sitting in the White House and not a jail cell is proof enough to me that it’s futile.
Ah yeah that wasn’t clear. Apologies.
Targeting the messenger of truths is right outta fascist playbooks.
Assumptions, exaggerations and over-assertions being said by yours and others’ comments - and to be quite frank that toxic attitude turns me off of using Lemmy and the fediverse in the same way it turned me off of using reddit. Of all the communities I explore on Lemmy, this fediverse community is full of the kinds of posts and comments that would make the average person --or anyone, really-- assume this community is full of pompous jerks and isn’t worth exploring. Fediverse is not user friendly to the average person, whether or not the community ever wants to admit it - and until it finally admits as such and attempts solutions the fediverse will probably fail. Modern technology can be as agile as possible, but if the user experience is still unfriendly it simply does not work to peak efficiency.
The difference from the movie is that we should just end it already and force the asteroid to collide specifically to destroy us.
