They just had a job interview for a possible promotion, but think they (L) tanked the interview.

(L) is up against two other people, one is from another department and doesn't have much of a shot. The other is someone relatively new that (L) was on the hiring committee for. That one is a a bit of a brown noser and is better at interviews.

(L) has more experience and better qualifications, 100%. On paper there wouldn't even be a question of who would get the promotion. But the way it works is that your qualifications just get you the interview, and the interviews are scored. So it's very possible that a poor interview versus a great interview might cost you that job.

I don't know how bad (L) did, honestly. But I do know that they are very depressed and hate their current position. They just got into it last year, but are desperate to get out of it.

Alternative to cheering (L) up: Help me find a job posting somewhere else? Biology/genetics anywhere trans friendly.

Finally getting my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine today. And do I have the state government to thank for that? Nope. The native corporation had extra and is allowing qualified non-native residents to schedule and come in.

Meanwhile, some people are refusing to get the vaccine altogether, or aren't willing to get two shots. FFS, it's getting poked in the arm twice. Something you should have been doing regularly for the flu and keeping your other vaccines up to date. (like tetanus)

At least some of those people will get the inferior J&J vaccine, because it's just one shot. But I suspect that most of them won't even get that. The overlap of anti-mask/anti-vax/essential oils cure everything people is near 100% here.

JFC. Was looking at the weather forecast. Getting even more snow this week. I am so ready for winter weather to be done.
