No-good pinko lefty #academic and #noise bastard.

#PerformanceResearch #scholar, #sound #nerd, #ontological #anarchist, and general #dickhead.

To be specific, I'm not terrific - just a manifester who can get off wit it

This is me, deep in performance mode with Primitive Calculators a few years back. Being on stage making noises was a radical change to my perspective. I became more comfortable with mistakes, glitches, and the unexpected weirdnesses of being in that strange and liminal moment of audience meeting performer.

Being a technical artist requires problem solving and some lateral thinking - inside this marvellous polar bear head, I tucked a wireless mic so that our performer could be heard, which also gave the polar bear a wonderful deep voice. Creative problems and creative solutions combine to make creative magic!

The artist as represented by the tools. I use a combination of hardware and software to create #punkambient environments for your project, through deep collaboration and engagement with your vision.

What we're gonna do right is go back, back into time: In 2002, director Alyson Campbell took a punt on a weird, furry noise creature to explore the sonic world of Lachlan Philpott's 'Catapult'. None of us had any idea where this would end up, but the long career collaboration between Alyson and myself has produced amazing work.

"If they think you’re crude, go technical; if they think you’re technical, go crude. I’m a very technical boy." A rehearsal setup for the sonic strangeness created with ReVerse Butcher a few years back.

Korg devices are a big part of the sounds that I make, and once they started tinkering with their legacy back with the MS-20 rerelease, their capacity to innovate on their design and sonic language has expanded. I love this. I want this. Give me a job so I can buy one and make weird noises for you.

The body, in motion. In a sense, the beginning of #punkambient - a performance intensive in Jakarta, 2010. My first, utterly overwhelming, experience outside my own context. In this process, I learned to create outside my own toolkit, to make work despite discomfort, and to accept vulnerability and error as essential parts of my work.

Once again I am trying to kickstart a new year, in the face of maximum uncertainty, the incessant weeblings of unemployment, and what we will now hilariously call a social media strategy. Expect nonsense, strangely vulnerable and slightly gooey posts, and probably noise.

I want to make sound for your project. Contact me via the website or DM for more details.
