The new album from Johnny Blue Skies & the Dark Clouds (aka Sturgill Simpson) has arrived! This one gets the headphone treatment immediately.

Both of those are timeless!
You know I've got shit to do when Beastie Boys hit the turntable.

I've had the new album Closer to Happy by the band Joseph on repeat since it came out three weeks ago. Even with one of the three sisters leaving the band, the harmonies are fantastic and I'm loving the album.

Tody in 1984 The Cars released Heartbeat City. Look at the hits on this album: Hello Again, Magic, Drive, You Might Think, the list goes on.

I still contend that 1984 was one of the best years for music. And yes, I've been collecting records so long now I only paid $2.50 for this record.

Thirty-five years ago today Queen released their final album, Innuendo. (Sorry, I don't count Made in Heaven). Freddie Mercury was literally singing from his deathbed during the making of the album.

I was just getting in to Queen in a big way when this album came out and I remember collecting all the reissues on Hollywood records.

Yes, yes it was. That and EMF's Unbelievable that summer still stick out in my mind.
Thirty five years ago today in 1991, Jesus Jones released their sophomore album, Doubt. Featuring the hit single "Right Here, Right Now", the song would hit #1 in the US and the album topped the charts in the UK.

Finding an original pressing of this was a white whale of mine for a few years. And then a year or two after I finally found one, they released the remaster. This album takes me back to being 14-15 again, so good.
Thirty years ago today, Tori Amos released her third album, Boys for Pele. According to Wikiepedia, the first single, Caught a Lite Sneeze, was the first full song ever released for streaming online prior to an album's release. The album would reach #2 in the UK and #2 on the Billboard 200.

My copy is a rare original 1996 pressing.
