Meeropol grew up with the story of the Rosenbergs, who were tried for espionage in 1951 and executed in 1953 for allegedly passing atomic weapons secrets to the Soviet Union. The Rosenbergs’ children, Michael and Robert Meeropol (who took the last name of their adoptive parents), have long held that the Rosenbergs were victims of the Red Scare and McCarthyism. Since the 1970s, the Meeropol brothers have publicly sought an acknowledgment from the US govt to that effect.

Courts were not working. Protests were not possible. People were meant to stay indoors. Instead, some state governments used the lockdown to remove hundreds from their homes, ignoring a United Nations warning that such evictions could be a “potential death sentence”.

Kudos to @[email protected] for standing up for truth and raising this issue. My father who has worked for 30 years at Raymond was first stripped of his job and then his dignity after the kind harrasement we have faced at the hands of an organisation to which he devoted his sweat and https://twitter.com/someshjha7/status/1271277779011530753
