#tdoh25 kann kommen 😍 @haecksen @muccc lieben Dank an Timo und Blinkyparts @marove #blinkyparts #loetenverbindet

Finally got my belated Christmas present from myself today πŸ˜€

- Olimex ESP32-P4 devboard. Dual-core RISC-V 400MHz MCU
- Olimex CologneChip GateMate A1 FPGA devboard

So looking forward to do stuff with them. Thanks @olimex 😍

#esp32 #esp32p4 #fpga #gatemate #colognechips #oshw

#muc_Haecksen Huh.. Just opened a fresh pack of 25 unpopulated PCBs and found shorts on five of them. That explains some as of yet unexplained failures of some #0xhaecks_cat Badges at #38C3 . 😬

Now I need to figure out if that's something because of my design and how to avoid this next time. Also I guess I'll pay for full electric test from now on..

Nachdem ich ja vor dem #38c3 zu langsam war, ist heute schon mein @haecksen Merch gekommen. Lieben Dank, ist klasse geworden 😍

Does it boot up a specific Linux distro? I'm curious how that works.

Enjoy!

@haitchfive
Neither of them come with any linux running on them.

While I wouldn't rule out that it may be possible to get linux to run on the ESP32-P4 (like https://hackaday.com/2021/07/21/its-linux-but-on-an-esp32/ ) it is usually used with a realtime OS like e.g. #freertos , #ZephyRTOS or #embassy

The FPGA does not contain any CPU/MCU or SoC initially, but it absolutely is possible to get linux to run on it, for example using #LiteX (for example https://github.com/litex-hub/linux-on-litex-vexriscv )

Fun stuff 😊

It’s Linux – But On An ESP32

GNU/Linux is an open-source marvel that has over the past three decades given us an almost infinitely versatile and powerful UNIX-like operating system. But even it has its limitations, particularl…
