Folks, the reason #Facebook/ #Instagram/ #Meta/ Zuckerberg hasn’t launched #Threads in the #EU isn’t because the EU is determined to protect your privacy, it’s because the EU is determined to protect The Single Market (peace be upon it) from anticompetitive behaviour. It’s because they’re using Instagram to launch Threads and sharing data between them (and not with EU startups that might want to use that data too). It’s #antitrust, not #privacy. It’s markets, not people.

@specwill The federation on kbin.social is now running 🎉
@specwill In general, you should of course look when you choose an instance whether the administrator with his views fits to you and how his TOS look like. Furthermore, the Communit and the language of the instance should fit you. Since kbin is still a really young project, there is not yet so much choice of instances. I would therefore currently choose one of the two large instances I mentioned above - or go with your Mastodon account.
@specwill On the main instance kbin.social the federation is not working at the moment because of claudflare ddos protection. The developer is working on it, but you can currently see the "subs" of the other instances only very limited.
Currently I would recommend
https://fedia.io if you want to register.

But you can also subscribe or read the subs with your Mastodon account. just enter the sub and the instance in the search. e.g. "@ technology@ beehaw.org" (without the spaces) if you want to read or subscribe the sub "technology" on beehaw.org. You can find most subs via the lemmy Community browser

lemmy.ml is migrated to a new server - Lemmy

Its now running on a dedicated server with 6 cores/12 threads and 32 gb ram. I hope this will be enough for the near future. Nevertheless, new users should still prefer to signup on other instances. This server is financed from donations to the Lemmy project [https://join-lemmy.org/donate]. If you want to support it, please consider donating.

Difference between kbin and lemmy - fediverse - kbin.social

Lately I often read about kbin.social being similar to lemmy but more accessible. So I created an account there to check it out. My experience so far is a little mixed. From kbin I can access all Lemmy posts, although I find the interface less intuitive to join new communities. So from the kbin side it feels like an other Lemmy...

@oliver @stux
@[email protected] , the developer of #kbin, just gave some information on the difference between kbin and lemmy.

@deuxcvsix Na das lief doch besser als erwartet (beim ESC): 18 Punkte im Plus.
