Die hard Cruyffian. Ex astrophysicist. Recovering Telegraph-ite. QPR, Ajax, Washington Capitals devotee, for my multiple sins. Single parent.

So a piece of good news: my shot of Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS was shortlisted for the DIAS/Irish Times Reach For The Stars #astrophotography competition. It's an honour to be nominated again.

It's up for the public vote alongside absolutely fantastic competition: I'd obviously love your vote!

@oftencalledcathy Thanks Candi!
First planetary imaging in 2 years last night - the Tycho region on the Moon #Astronomy #astrophotography

The main insane reason for getting up at 5am was to do some imaging of Jupiter & Mars: having not done it in 2 years, very out of practice (plus the 8" scope wasn't set up right tonight). Lots learnt tonight.

Still, nice to get back to it - even if the images aren't great 🤣

The constellations of spring are already making their reappearance

I must be insane, getting out of a warm bed for #astrophotography...

Still, the winter constellations plus Jupiter and Mars are a nice consolation... #Astronomy

A fun comparison of the shots of Comet #tsuchinshanatlas last week with different equipment: on the left, a wider field shot with my DSLR & Samyang 135mm lens; on the right, a tighter FOV with my GT81 refractor & ASI 2600 camera. #Astrophotography #Astronomy #astrodon #space

Work in progress: processing some of the images I took of Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS on Oct 22nd with my GT81 refractor and my ASI 2600MC camera...

15 mins total, 30 second exposures. Boatstrand, Waterford, Ireland. #TsuchinshanATLAS #Astronomy #astrophotography #astrodon
