So, today I ran my first #wargame for military and security officers. Sparing the details, discussions were lively, participants involved and interested in further exploring the method. I wouldn't have expected this a year ago, but here we are, and it's getting very exciting.
Three days of #wargaming emergency management with future officers using Ebola in the DRC by Evan D'Alessandro, Kazhdyy Gorod from Tom Mouat, and Earthquake! signed by Tim Price. Games sometimes led to heated exchanges, but that's what you get dealing with simulated emergencies.
First games of Charioteer from #gmtgames at 2p. It's quick, it's strategic, it's fun. Flamme Rouge was the go to racing game, but for now Charioteer is likely to take the spot.the emperors so far have been very generous, not inciting the crowd to throw stuff at the racers.
A light evening with Asian birds of #Wingspan. Tried the new duet mode, which does add additional dynamics in a 2p game, making other strategies than 'spawn eggs' more viable at the end. One play so far, seems like a good a good improvement.
A new tool to lure people into playing GMT Games. Had a chance to study Circus Maximus in situ in July, I hope it gives some advantage...
Game after a visit to Prague. For wargames - playtesting Žižka by Petr Mojžiš, a very interesting topic and mechanics reflecting the Hussite Wars for the Levy & Campaign series. For boardgames - Praga Caput Regni (by Vladimir Suchy) and trying to get enough eggs to build the Charles bridge.
