Indeed, since Socrates never wrote any books himself! Every thing we know about him has been reported by his pupils (amongst whom Plato...) so if Ibn Qayyim "quoted" him 900 years later, he must have had access to some crazy stuff!

I’m pretty sure Plato never said that. He wrote an entire book about how to make sure people live only according to traditions. It’s called the “laws”. Check parts 3 to 5, it’s quite telling…
