November 1938 in #Bremen in Erinnerung zu halten. Es geht um die #Geschichte von Jüdinnen und Juden in Bremen und um die Orte ihrer Verfolgung und Vernichtung im #Nationalsozialismus. Thema werden auch die Täter sein, ihre Planungen, ihr Vorgehen und ihre weitgehende Straffreiheit nach 1945. Wir treffen uns um 14 Uhr an der Ecke Sögestraße/Obernstraße.

shac ron ₪@schwa A state exists to protect its citizens. It must counter existential threats. All Israelis know what their fate would have been if things had gone Hamas’ way on the day of the attack. That is not revenge, it is self-preservation.
For decades Israel has fought with one hand tied behind its back, taking immense care to reduce civilian casualties. It has paid an extreme price for that in civilian lives. The calculus has changed now that this limited form of engagement has proven insufficient.
I blame Hamas for the deaths of Israelis and Palestinians alike. They started a war with a depraved attack and are now reaping what they sowed. Innocent Palestinians are suffering and dying due to Hamas’ attempt to carry out their genocidal goals.
@tadbithuman But when you know history, you know they are simply justifying their bigotry and hate of Jews. There are no concessions Israel could possibly give that would stop these attempts at genocide.
The Jews in 1929 had no land, no army, no defense, and they were murdered anyway because of Arab lies about them.

@tadbithuman and please don't forget, hat around 1948, when's all so surrounding arab nations attacked Israel, around 700.000 Jewish people where forced out of their homes and expelled from Arab countries. Where should they go, who would take them? Why did the Arab people did this to its own citizens? It's called antisemitism. They found refuge in Israel.

You know that Jewish people have lived in the region since forever & that before 1948 there was a British mandate & before that ottomans? Who owned what is a difficult question. Jews legally bought land from Arabs & a lot of Arabs acutely ran away when the Arab countries attacked Israel 1948.

And of corse wanted people to live in peace together. Actually it was sadly a lot (not all of corse) of Arab people who wanted the opposite. So what you relay don't understand ist ANRISEMITISEM. It plays an enormes role since before Israel and this ideology continues to be a huge factor.
@tadbithuman what "other" Palestinians do you mean? I don't get your question. Look, Israel said often enough, that they would do some kind of reparations to people who were forced out of their homes during the time, when all surrounding Arab nations attacked the country on its first day after the proclamation. But for this to happen, the Palestinian will have to form some kind of government that is willing to negotiate a realistic peace deal.
