The medical system in the US is an embarrassment of epic proportions, and this (satire) video about trying to get pricing for surgery was so accurate it stressed me out. If your country is considering privatizing some services just look to the US as a giant warning sign.

This egg shortage is no joke.

If I don’t get my breakfast burritos I’m going to have to turn to a life of crime. #avianflu

I’ve been genuinely curious what 🍎 planned to do for a Mac Pro/HEDT SoC ever since they announced the switch away from x86.

High core count machines need cache coherency too, and the best way is with a directory. (Maybe they can avoid building a directory with 24 CPU cores if they implement some hierarchy.)

The Twitter dumpster fire, explained

This interview with Joan Donovan, Research Director at Harvard's Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy, has been edited and condensed for clarity. LEGUM: Many readers of Popular Information are Twitter users. How should intelligent news consumers think about the chaos on Twitter since Musk took over?

With the Twitter CEO banning journalists fiasco and the new policy banning links to other social media sites fiasco:
* All this drama has a very 45th-President-of-the-United-States feel to it, which gets old quickly.
* In fact we’ve entered the “there’s-always-a-tweet” phase (see below)
* At the same time, I don’t feel guilty talking about it on mastodon (no engagement on the bird site, no ad revenue)

Ian is right - getting A0 silicon to production is a feat and something companies aim for especially given the cost and fab cycle times of advanced nodes.

FWIW, I have heard NV has shipped A0. And for various reasons, getting an A0 CPU to production is more difficult (I’m not sure if it’s ever been done).

Hackers leak personal info allegedly stolen from 5.7M Gemini users

Just went to see the very normal r/elonmusk subreddit to see what the prevailing opinion is there and there hasn’t been a new post in almost 24 hours.

I happened to join this space and listened to EM try to justify why he banned several Twitter accounts belonging to journalists. The only thing he could coherently say was “doxxing will get you banned - end of story.” He left early while others were talking.

It’s both fascinating to see all of this blow up in his face and really sad to see the bird site go down the toilet.

Also lol at the fact that the banned journalists couldn’t tweet but could talk on Twitter Spaces.
