What kind of hell is this? I use both Alfred and Spotlight depending on which one I think will get me to my files the fastest. If I'm dissatisfied with the initial results, I then try the other one.

I can't find the source, but IIRC, MetaFilter or something used to have a "jerk filter" principle, whereby paying $5 filtered out jerks, and kept the social media platform nice. Maybe Mastodon's difficult UX is a tacit jerk filter? (@andybaio help me out?)
