@keldesoto probably would avoid anything Ubuntu (and presumably Debian) based if you want to use Wayland with little hassle.

Basically I'd suggest looking at something which has explicit sync wayland patches merged if you want to use Wayland on Nvidia. I think Fedora 40 /should/ be recent enough (I think KDE 6.1 has it and GNOME 46.1 are the relevant versions on the DE side).
