Choosing Avi Lewis a bold move for the NDP

To be clear, this isn't an attack on the guy, its an acknowledgement that the Federal NDP has finally done what activists (inside and outside the party) have called for - going further left. This follows a similar logic that conservative parties have followed in the past; dismissing critics' claim that was too extreme, they begin to argue that they weren't hard line enough.
