Hello, and forgive me for throwing in a text post. I was wondering what you guys would recommend for a newcomer! I just got into black metal about 6 months ago, and I’m digging it, mostly Mayhem and Darkthrone and Bathory, so nothing super out-there or unknown. I’d love some recommendations for good bands!
a modest proposal: reading club!
Hello, all, it’s Pangolin again. I was thinking we here could start out own reading club! My thoughts for how this could work: 1. Once a month, we decide what to read—whether we choose an epic poem, a collection, or something else—by creating a post, making suggestions, and deciding via upvote. (Obtuse, but I can’t figure out how to make polls/if doing so is possible in Lemmy right now.) 2. We create a separate post on which we can discuss our chosen work(s) until the end of the month. 3. We do this for as long as people are interested. So: if you’re interested, please comment your suggested reading for August! Also feel free to criticize this idea/suggest ways to improve it!
Who are your favorite poets?
Hello, fellow fediverse poetry lovers! Like the title suggests, who are your favorite poets? I figured a post like this could be fun and could help us all discover new poets! To start things off, I’ll list my top three at the moment: 1. William Carlos Williams 2. Pablo Neruda 3. T.S. Elliot Happy to elaborate on why I chose any of them or share my recommendations for poems by any of them. More importantly, though, I’d love to hear what you guys think!

I’ve gon ahead and created Rimjob Steve [lemmy.world/c/rimjob_steve]: a place for wholesome posts/comments by those with inappropriate/rude usernames! If you’re familiar with the original subreddit, you get the idea. If not, I have posted an example in the new Lemmy community! # Why did I make this? I really enjoyed the subreddit! # Who is Pensivepangolin? I’m literally just some person. Right now I’m the only mod, and I’m not affiliated with the subreddit in anyway, other than as someone that enjoyed it when they still used Reddit. I’m more than willing to bring people on to moderate it if the community gets an real volume of users! I’m also more than happy to answer any questions! Also if any mod of that sub ever winds up seeing this and wants to contact me, please feel free to hit me up on here. I’m going to be setting up a mastodon account shortly, and I’ll edit the post to include it when that’s done!
