@paulwallbank Mass retrenchments in technology are happening where I was recently working. Women have been retrenched as well as men. There were not a lot of women working in tech in the first place.

The consequence is that there are lots of all-male teams or just one woman in a team of men. I got contacted by an old female colleague yesterday who was feeling a bit lonely. It is really hard not having another woman to work with sometimes. The peripheral social chat matters.

I never believe it when an organisation says they want to get more women in tech. That is easy to say when times are good, but the men always look after themselves when retrenchment time comes.
