@RustyBertrand that is a fantastic photo. I have taken many photos of pets on my belly because the angle is so much better.

@sarakathleenuk I know this is an oak, but the symptoms remind me of the ash-borer beetle. I used to have a number is Ash trees that succumbed to it. All the bark fell away in a lump around the trees and they were dead. Eventually had to cut them down as hazards 😥
