Today I needed to use a web app for a project, and I couldn’t believe it.
This web app is still using jQuery 1.10.2, released in 2013. Yes, 12 years ago.

And it also uses Prototype 1.5.0_rc1.
Yes, version 1.5.0 was released in 2008, 17 years ago.

On the server, PHP 7.4.33 is running. The 7.4 branch hasn’t received security fixes since 2022.

This does not really build trust in using this platform.

Anyone else feel me?

Symfony turns 20 this year, and I can’t help but feel a bit nostalgic.

I first started working with Symfony back in 2008 on professional projects, and it completely changed the way I approached PHP development.
In 2012 I built one of the most widely used Sublime Text extensions for Symfony development, which connected me with an amazing community of passionate developers.

Congratulations!

AWS is back in business! 🥳

Well, that was fun, wasn't it? Every time a big cloud stumbles, the Twitter/LinkedIn comment sections light up with the classic: "See! That's why you shouldn't rely on the Big Three!"

But let's be honest, folks: A server room outage, a bad config change, or a rogue coffee spill can happen absolutely anywhere. Your on-prem setup is not immune to gravity, nor is that smaller provider down the road.

Stuck in an endless loop trying to create an account. 🌀

It takes 15+ minutes for the verification email to arrive and by then, the code is already expired. This is the 3rd time!

Dear developers: if emails go through busy queues, please extend the code’s validity. UX matters.
