Why is reddthat seemingly blocked by an "instance filter". - Lemmy.world

This doesn’t seem to be an app setting but something lemmy.word is filtering. What’s the point of hiding but not blocking, and why this filter at all? I heard Lemmy modding is “open”, so is there some way to track and see why something like this is done? Edit: see comments, it was actually an app setting but not something I changed/applied myself.
