@Anarkat I think it's great to sit with these cognitively dissonant experiences. IMO expressions like ACAB are valid, but only while the person acts in the capacity of a cop. It's the uniform that makes the bastard, not the individual underneath it. I think it's dangerous to reduce a person down to their profession.
@garbados I would have you all over for mead and arson, to be visigoth
@drwho For sure. When that happened to me the lock was keyed to a master and one of those internal split pins failed.
@drwho That sucks. I have been in that same situation before. I don't know how common it is, though I suspect not very. It feels cool to be in a place where that's a nonchalant rant. But also, again, that sucks.
@Jo My folks also have a Great Reverse Card Error of 1979. They still talk about it. What a strange zeitgeist.

On Oct 26, we sent a formal letter to Truth Social’s chief legal officer, requesting the source code to be made publicly available in compliance with the license.

According to AGPLv3, after being notified by the copyright holder, Truth Social has 30 days to comply or the license may be permanently revoked.

Trump's new social media platform found using Mastodon code

From media reports and individual findings that various people have presented to us, it seems that the new social media platform owned by the former president of the United States, Donald J. Trump, so-called Truth Social, is using Mastodon’s source code with various visual adjustments. The platform has not formally launched yet, but it was made accessible ahead of time. Users were quick to note that the terms of service included a worrying passage, claiming that the site is proprietary property and all source code and software are owned or controlled by them or licensed to them:
