I hope you can understand that I don’t go more into detail, but to understand the results of my thesis, you would also have to know about the theoretical frameworks I discussed, and I fear that it would lead to misunderstandings or a lot of questions otherwise.

I am sorry that I haven't posted anything for quite a while. I know that many are interested in what I found out in my BA thesis, but I wanted to wait until the grading process was done.
Summarising my finds very briefly, I can say that Mastodon users use the platform because it is an alternative social network and like its features. Yet, there are also some critical issues from results of existing studies on Mastodon that are not recognised by its users. (1/2)

The survey is for my bachelor's thesis - so I haven't done much research on my own before and take the feedback I'm receiving therefore as learning for the future.
Since many people are asking for the results or insights of my thesis I will think of something, but I need to finish the thesis first, so it could take some time.

@jnfingerle I use the term "alternative media" to refer to media that somehow oppose/challenge the mainstream media and their beliefs. But that is just a very short definition, there are different approaches to the topic.

@helianthropy It refers to something I read in a paper about Mastodon that contrasts it with corporate social media and says that on Mastodon, you do not post so much about your person but rather about your interests. E.g., you post less selfies but exchange around topics you are interested in.
