Susan Letcher in Bar Harbor breaks it down in MDIslander this week:
"Who stands to benefit from the status quo? Multinational companies and their shareholders. Who stands to benefit from change? Mainers."

As the Maine PUC considers #CMP's latest rate hike plan, let's look at some trends over the past decade:
CMP's delivery rate has increased 40%.⬆️
CMP's profits are up 43% ($160M in 2022).💰
CMP's performance has declined 61% to "worst in nation" 👎

2 public hearings this week and 1 next week:
4/4 6pm Ramada Inn Lewiston (490 Pleasant St).
4/6 4pm at PUC offices in Hallowell (26 Katherine Dr.)
4/11 6pm Ramada Inn Saco (352 North St)
#CMP loves to scare everyone by saying it would cost $13.5B to buy them out.
But they just released an annual report listing their "Total Assets" at $5.4B.

Kathy D’Agostino from Harpswell in today's PressHerald:
"Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like I am being bamboozled by Central Maine Power. I think people are much smarter than CMP thinks."

Question is, do we have CMP and Versant do this job and pay a premium for their heavy profit? Do we trust them to do it right?
Consumer-owned electricity has a long, successful history in Maine and there are many communities right now enjoying better service and lower rates than the captive customers of CMP and Versant.
One example is the Houlton area where customers pay only 11.6¢/kWh.
