Spell check would be good. Unfortunately Flutter, the framework we use, doesn't have support for it on desktop platforms yet.

To refresh on desktop theres a floating button on the bottom right which shows/hides some other buttons, one of which is a refresh. In Settings -> Feed Actions, you can change the locations of these buttons if you wish.

Settings -> Display -> "Hide feed UI on scroll" will hide the top bar on scroll.
Then under Settings -> Feed actions, you can change the location of several ui elements. If I remember correctly "Set Filter" defaults to Tabs. If you change it to "App bar" or "FAB menu" it should reduce the screen space used.
