It should not be controversial to say that I am against genocide in any and all forms.
Listening to The Cranberries Zombie, thinking about world events right now. Thinking about all the innocent people on both sides right now in the Middle East that lost their lives, their children, their family members. Terrorism and ethnostate expansionist ethnic cleansing are both terrible things, and one doesn't have to condone one to condemn the other. Both hurt the innocent. And I'm sick of our government using our money to support it without much of our say, if any.
Eat prey. Love.
Monarchies are an immoral concentration of stolen wealth and power, and it should all be returned from whence it came. That's all I have to say on the topic.
Power just went out in Rochester, NY. Outage map shows the whole area. Cellular service still working. It's supposed to drop to 8 Β°F tonight. Send us warm thoughts. We've got blankets and still have running water for now.
@toddo it's sometimes used to foster a sense of community and alliance, e.g. I am not a lesbian or trans but I ally myself with them and recognize that we're fighting a common enemy, and that policy solutions that benefit the most marginalized of us benefit all of us. I tend to use it and queer interchangeably. But policing how other people self-identify isn't cool, and how you identify is personal to you, so if you don't identify as LGBTQ and prefer a more specific term, cool

The third party Android app Tusky has just been updated to version 20 in Google Play.

The new version allows you to follow hashtags within the app itself, instead of having to log in through the website first. ("Click on a hashtag and then on the icon in the toolbar.")

The third party app Fedilab also supports this.

If you are still using the official Android app, you might want to try Tusky or Fedilab instead.

(For F-Droid users, Tusky should be updated there soon.)

@RussellsBarbershopQuartet (it's also why talk of commercially-run ActivityPub / Mastodon etc instances scares me, because it means that there could be a fandom-like hellsite version of Mastodon too)
@RussellsBarbershopQuartet thanks for sharing, glad to know there's an alternative! In return, have a random fact I know: Fandom was created by some of the same people as wikipedia, notably as a for-profit wikia site instead of a not-for-profit site like wikipedia. Community supported sites like wikipedia are an alternative to hellsites like fandom. So reminder to donate to wikipedia if you can, because if donors don't support it, it will become like the fandom hellsite.
