First look at crew module! Silver color is from a coated kapton tape serving 2 purposes, thermal barrier/reflection and conduction of static charge across surface. Conduction is necessary as flying through space, crossing magnetic field lines, generates charge that if not managed could short out vehicle.u
Under the tape, CM backshell is covered in nonconductive ceramic thermal tile like Space Shuttle belly. 3rd pic is tile from #Orion EFT1 flight test, tape was unnecessary. #NASA #Artemis
Earth! This is from Orion's Optical Navigation Camera on Flight Day (FD) 2! These cameras are being calibrated on this flight for future missions to be able to safely return the crew without any ground communication! 1/2
Closer to the moon than earth! #NASA #Artemis #YallaToTheMoon

Was it really only yesterday we launched #Artemis? Some reflections:

1. My nerves were way less than expected, mostly due to not being in a technical support room making calls on data like I was for EFT1.

2. The excitement at work is palpable. Just the amount of smiles, jokes, and energy at the office today is soooo refreshing.

3. The excitement everywhere not work is also tremendous including that Southwest airlines flight home with an extremely enthusiastic crew

Time to go, let's send this rocket to the moon. #NASA #Artemis #moon #exploration #YallaToTheMoon
Making the tough decisions today, which pin to wear
Great talking to Ranji at KIRO7 about #NASA and #Artemis1. Here's hoping we make the launch Wed!
I miss seeing the beautiful architecture of my Alma mater but get to visit today #UW #Seattle
