Thank god it’s finally sunny in Portland after weeks of dreary overcast and rain. If it was still like that today, after last night’s election news, I don’t know if my mental health could take it. I’m going on a long walk…
For the best of both worlds, we should switch to DST every day at noon and switch back to standard time every midnight. 🤪

I’ve only watched 3/9 episodes so far but I can already say “Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War” on Netflix is one of the most informative and well done historical documentaries I’ve ever seen! It covers a lot more than the title suggests too. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt26227818
Still COVID positive after about a week from the start of my symptoms.
BTW, I share my house with my mom (who turns 96 this Friday!) and my older sister. My mom (who also got the vaccine when I did last week) tested positive 2 days after me but she has had minimal symptoms, just an occasional cough and no fever at all. She now seems about as healthy as ever!
My sister hasn’t tested but I know she has it because she has been coughing occasionally for the past few days too. She doesn’t seem to have any other symptoms either.
So we are a house full of COVID now but we are all feeling pretty good!
A week ago I posted about getting the latest COVID vaccine and my surprise at how strong my side-effects were a day later. Well it turns out that I ACTUALLY HAD COVID! I took a home test 2 days after my shot (I thought maybe I had something else like strep and I wanted to rule out COVID) but I tested positive! So my theory is I must have picked it up from someone the weekend prior to my shot last Tuesday and my first real COVID symptoms (sore throat and fever) didn’t happen until the night after I got the shot. So the vaccine didn’t have enough time to build up in my system to help. I had a few more days of flu-like symptoms and I also got headache that felt like someone stabbing a dagger in my forehead and pulling it out every few seconds. Thankfully that headache went away after a couple days and it was smooth sailing from then on. I’m still positive as of yesterday but I’m feeling pretty good with just an occasional cough and some mild congestion. Gonna test again tomorrow. 😷

I always forget how much the side-effects of a COVID shot depletes my energy the next day. I don’t feel that bad now as far as aches & pain but my mental energy is shot. Actually it’s probably also due to the lack of sleep last night too. Looking forward to a long sleep tonight. 🛌
