today, for the first time in my life, i heard someone say on NPR that the United States of America is a White Supremacist country. and that person just happens to be a former White Nationalist.

I think people that grew up after 9/11 or were very young when it happened already are used to living in a place where such a massive attack could happen (and did),
whereas those of us who are older and saw the Gulf War #1 televised, felt like the U.S. was an almost impervious super power. 9/11 changed that perception.

i was 19 and it affected me deeply and I was in LA. I think age has a lot to do with how you see it. U.S. has done all kinds of heinous shit before and since, but seeing first hand & live some kind of attack on the U.S. mainland was something. I still also remember the Oklahoma City bombing vividly and I was 12 when it happened.
