I needed a 20 Gbps USB-C cable for some file transfers to a portable SSD, but USB-C is such a mess, I had no idea what cables I had were what speed, or power rating. So I ordered some new ones specifically for data transfer and put labels on the ends. Can't go back and do it with my mystery cables, but at least I will do this going forwards.

Sharing this for anyone who may be in a similar boat someday.

Mars was destroyed because the (more limited) Soong type androids Starfleet built were IoT devices. They still needed to physically type on screens at utopia planetia so it clearly wasn't a useful link to facility systems. It seems unnecessary.

Starfleet took Soong type androids, made them worse, and added a wifi antenna. This resulted in a tremendous loss of life. Remember, making something inferior but adding wifi has consequences.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk

Made the switch to LibreWolf on PC and IronWolf on mobile. Plus a self-hosted sync server running behind my reverse proxy.

Firefox's ToS changes were shitty and I am trying to take back whatever privacy I can.

With proton going to shit, does anyone have a VPN recommendation? I need port forwarding for reasons so mulvad isn't an option.
Looking for some boosts to see if this is still true. About 13 years ago a friend of mine interned at the Federal Reserve. He was tasked with making a front end that queried multiple databases for user permissions and presented it in one report. Because he was a 20-year-old boy, he named it the "Federal Access Permission." So now I really want to know if the US Federal Reserve is still using FAP reports.

We are expanding our search to Windsor, my wife is considering applying for a masters program there to get in with a student visa.

And also to clarify, we aren't paniced liberals saying they are going to flee to Canada just because a republican won. We have very real concerns for our safety, and the safety of those who depend on us. I don't want to be more specific on a public space, but please believe me when I say our need is great.

*EDIT* Fixed typo

I will probably have more questions that I will reply to this thread with. I am just still in shock and my brain is not on.

Thanks to anyone who boosts or replies.

2. Does anyone have leads on a sys admin job in those areas or remotely elsewhere in Canada? I am fully remote in the States now and am attempting to negotiate at least a temporary arrangement with my current job, but I would much rather be employed in Canada proper.

I am very good at group policy, intune management, Microsoft defender, and a whole host of other Microsoft Azure services. Know my way around plenty of on prem services too, but I deal mostly in cloud. Resume can be provided

If people could boost for some answers to my questions that would be appreciated.

My wife and I were toying with contingency plans post-election, but have taken on an accelerated push.

1. We have decent jobs and skills (Sysadmin and therapist) and are looking in either Toronto or London. Does anyone have suggestions for which part of those metropolitan areas would be a good place to start looking for a house (or possibly a rental for a year or two.)
