The Mastodon WEB UI becomes incredibly slow when you just leave it opened on your timeline for some 24+ hours without interacting with it.
Reload of the page does quickly fix it, but should not be necessary.

I have to admit, they’re not wrong. Mastodon can disrupt Twitter’s business. And those who post links certainly intend it to do just that.
This is not new BTW. Vrij.social was created pre-Elon and when I tried to tell people about it (just my followers, nothing spammy) I got a permanent suspension.
