Following the breaking news story about the Japan Airlines plane fire at Haneda airport in Tokyo. Dramatic video and photos. Thank God all 379 passengers and crew were evacuated safely, a pure miracle. Sad news re occupants of the coastguard plane that apparently collided with the JAL jet.

Gm! I'm reflecting on brand names as we bought a new freezer, a small second one that goes under the counter. It's branded 'English Electric.' That's a name I remember for the manufacture of things such as fighter jets for the Air Force, e.g., the Lightning. That was 50+ years ago. I never knew they also made domestic appliances like freezers. Sadly, the brand name is all that's left today, and the company itself is no more. A storied history behind it, nevertheless.

Meta's move on testing inter-connection between Threads and Mastodon is a huge step in the federated networking idea. Showing Threads posts on Mastodon and vice versa will open up huge potential for connecting with others elsewhere. Risks, too, I think, from people with bad intent, but overall, it's a good step forward.

We watched this film on Netflix last night. Great cast incl Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke, Mahershala Ali. Described as an "apocalyptic psychological thriller" it's a gripping story. (Key aside: production by Barack & Michelle Obama's production company.) Trying to figure out the ending... 🤔
