@yellowstreetlight ok well it looks like I only follow one which is: @aljazeera but if theres a news source you like search it to see if there's a account/bot for it. Point is you can create your own news feed!
@yellowstreetlight I follow news bots on here and it pretty well simulates a new feed
@marcominutoli @Gargron if you start scrolling down on the federated feed then it’s easier to read. I’ll usually scroll for a bit, then hit the federated feed button to go back up to the most recent post and scroll a bit more
@samsamros @geography is this where a lot of the manufacturing jobs in Detroit went? Like is there a correlation to the economic growth of this area to the fall of Detroit?

Not sure about needing our own instance though hahah but as long as it doesn’t turn into a misogynistic incel instance I don’t see the harm :)

It makes me think that perhaps Mastadon could benefit if there were some instances funded by the government with standardized rules for people to have an initial landing pad when they start on the fediverse. It seems like a technology that could be well utilized by public libraries.

It’s been amazing seeing so many people come over. Mastodon is so fundamentally different than twitter and isn’t made to suck up your attention with minimal engagement.
It takes a bit more “effort” than twitter does but can be so much better once you get the hang of it!
