It's now possible to disable Bing Search in Windows 11 in the EU.

It's also possible to remove Microsoft Edge (only in the EU) and disable Microsoft Start garbage in the widgets screen.

Tip: if you use a Steam Deck, go to desktop mode and enable these options from the Steam settings. This way, you’ll always get uncompressed PNG screenshots.

(Also, just noticed a new setting for HDR screenshots…)

In Windows 11, Microsoft introduced this microphone icon into the taskbar, if any program currently uses the microphone.

Clicking it does not mute the microphone, but brings you to the microphone permission settings.

Muting the microphone from the sound settings does not change this icon.

The microphone icon only highlights like this when supported apps provide the mute state to this icon.
This feature is only supported by Microsoft Teams (classic). This feature is not supported by the new Microsoft Teams or third-party apps like Discord.

In conclusion: this icon is almost completely useless and not even Microsoft supports it anymore. It is a good example of Microsoft's non-existent long-term vision (at least for Windows).

Balatro is rated PEGI 18 due to "Prominent Gambling Imagery". EA Sports FC 24 is rated PEGI 3.

For another similar example: Super Mario 64 DS (on Wii U) is rated PEGI 12 because of the Luigi casino minigame; the original was rated PEGI 3.

PEGI is useless, lol.

Steam updated their embedded Chromium from 85 to 109.

We’re at 120 at the moment. 109 happens to be the last version to support Windows 7.

Finally, someone compliments me for the amount of time I spend making playlists.
I think this says enough about my Spotify Wrapped.

I figured it out: the issue is with extracting the .ass subtitles from the video file.

A video player like VLC or MPV only has to load part of the .ass subtitles. On the other hand, Jellyfin needs to extract the subtitles from the video file in order to provide it to SubtitlesOctopus. This is what actually takes a lot of time.
