@afterglow Small M2 SSD for database storage (especially when working with sqlite databases), NAS for assets (images, music, videos and such)
@blackops @bipolaron @xgebi @thomasfuchs It isn't possible to adjust the motherboard and add an 'RDIMM slot'. Consumer grade CPUs can't work with RDIMMs, only server CPUs can. And those will not fit consumer motherboards, they have different sockets.
@davidhund @paul @Anneke Gewoon externe Western Digital schijven kopen en openbreken, zitten enterprise grade disks in. Voor €230 heb je 10TB op de Duitse Amazon.

Dear every programmer working on websites and browsers:

I DO NOT WANT TO TRY CHROME.

I DO NOT WANT TO LOG IN WITH MY GOOGLE ACCOUNT.

I DO NOT WANT TO CHANGE MY SEARCH ENGINE BACK TO THE DEFAULT.

I DO NOT WANT TO CHANGE MY SEARCH ENGINE TO YOURS.

I DO NOT WANT TO SHARE MY LOCATION.

I DO NOT WANT TO SUBSCRIBE TO ONE SINGLE NEWSLETTER EVER.

I DO NOT WANT NOTIFICATIONS.

LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE.

@dima So the NAS + disks are offered as a package deal? If it's a good deal, you could take it, put it to use but try to re-sell it immediately. Once you sell the device, you can upgrade to something like a DS923+ or DS925+.
@osma They were having IT issues, apparently.
@dima It's a decent NAS, but i wouldn't buy a pre-owned unit. I used an 916+ for about 8 years, last year the SATA controller broke and 2/4 bays don't work any longer. The power supply had to be replaced at some point as well.
@bret They are leaning quite heavily into AI, but it's very useful for stringing together any number of services, like IFTTT does. Things like 'when I 'favorite' a Mastodon post, the post should be stored in Notion'. Personally, among other things, I have used it for a scientific study in which I scraped websites, translated their content via DeepL, then stored the output in a structured way (with metadata) in Baserow. Very intuitive and time-saving (compared to programming everything myself).
@zef Komodo
@b0rk Awesome, thanks!
