Our final hike of 2024. What a great way to end the year!

Such an exciting but odd feeling to be in a narrow, tall slot canyon for so long. Photos look warm, but it was 41 degrees and felt even cooler in the canyon; especially when we had to wade through 6 or 7 puddles of freezing cold water up to my thighs, barefoot! Top 5 hike of 2024 for me.

Spooky slot canyon was often just 10 inches wide, forcing us to remove our packs and squeeze through sideways. It was dark, deep, twisty, and definitely spooky!

Wire Pass to Buckskin Gulch, Part Three.

Too many photos from this slot canyon. It looked like some variation of this for most of the 8 miles we did in there. I read in multiple places that Buckskin Gulch is the longest and deepest slot canyon in the world. Longest seems to be verifiable, but there are certainly plenty of deeper slot canyons. I think everyone who gets in a day hike here wants to return to hike or backpack the entire thing. Add me to the list, please.

There were so many. Some were washes. Some were slots. Some were easy. Some required scrambling and climbing. Some quite long, worthy of a full day hike on their own. Loved this one.
