What's going on here? The matplotlib maintainer this story is about correctly notes that all the quotes from his post in the article are made up.

UPDATE: Link was pulled; see below.

@arroz I know who *will* be manually reviewing the generated code: the people in the black hats.

Paul’s Patented 3 out of 2 Post™:

This grab-and-run strategy explains a lot of the incidents you hear about. ICE’s targeting strategy here is mostly chaotic and opportunistic. They can’t actually try to identify an undocumented immigrant, or even an •immigrant• at all, based on any kind of real evidence. They are mostly just running around trying to catch a brown-enough-skinned person in a vulnerable moment. Bully cowards.

This is one reason why you hear about them grabbing random people out of cars, grabbing US citizens, leaving a car sitting in the middle of the street, leaving kids abandoned in the car, chasing down a random person and then suddenly dispersing. They •know• it’s all disorganized, but they’re desperate to get in and out fast — and they have to hit those quotas somehow.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAhahaha*gasp*HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Update: Hilton corporate apparently overrode the local hotel’s decision and is inviting ICE back in (article downthread). Be sure to find ways to demonstrate to Hilton how you feel about this.

@MLNow waymo et al are part of a campaign to replace all public transit with for-profit corporate controlled surveillance and they can't even function in emergencies when they're most needed. the tech is bad and its politics are even worse.

OK, so, hear me out:

Stranger Things always features songs that were popular at the time the story is taking place

and it starts in 1983, but the story has reached 1987

and it’s the final season

and they’ll have to feature one extra-notable contemporaneous song in the end credits of the final episode…

…and so…what if Stranger Things — •the entire series• — is a giant Rickroll??

@davidgerard While there's no GO TO JAIL statement in INTERCAL, if you're programming in INTERCAL// (the variant that allows for named labels) then you can definitely have COME FROM JAIL statements. That should make it ideal for implementing modern cryptocurrency and financial engineering systems.
@csilverman
So that's its name! I always called it the angry shock monster
