was just informed of the website "formaviva", which has to be the most startup looking startup in the music sphere. are you kidding? [the following is copypasted from a discord message i sent]

this place looks like hell dude. there's an artist signup where they check the "quality" of your work (nonspecific) and i'm sure theres some dumb aesthetic threshold they want to maintain too.

the site is full of non-information too: "Become an early supporter and keep 90% of royalties." - ok, so just like bandcamp was, and is if you make "ok money" there. "Formaviva distributes up to 90% of earnings to the creators." up to? how much are you going to lower it?

their terms also like... barely exist? at all? and wtf is this? "Unless otherwise stated, Samorastnik d.o.o. and/or its licensors own the intellectual property rights for all material on Formaviva. All intellectual property rights are reserved" - there is no copyright information on any album page here. so who owns the work now?

and wtf is this????? "By using our website, you also agree to Youtube's terms of service and usage"????????????????????
@cancel what on earth lol... my experience with apple stuff is fairly minimal, but this seems about as user-hostile as the rest. only barely related, but i got my first iphone a little while ago and i don't think i've ever hated a computer more. nothing makes any sense. there is no cohesion, there is no control, things are buried in things which are buried in things, gestures are nonsense, and don't even get me started on actually getting photos/videos off the thing and then having to manually convert all their goober HEIC shit.

i am bewildered by people that will say droid is "worse", maybe an out of the box configuration, sure, but you can just change most things. here i'm stuck with somebody that thinks they know what's best for me constantly offering wrong suggestions and finishing my sentences with unrelated thoughts.
@vurren for sure there'll be more over time, being able to watch them roam around bioactive setups makes all the work worth it (and smells great, frankly, it's like a slice of forest in my living room)
@gutmunchies been postin a few viddies on https://www.youtube.com/@emmaessex/videos .... many bug (isopods, roaches, millipedes, crickets, giant centipede), also funny salamander. 10 enclosures currently <_>

been too busy socializing and looking after the miniature farm that has taken over my living room to be Publicly Online, sorry

not sure what's next for work stuff (aside from finalizing a few plugins). it will make itself apparent to me soon, i think.
@cancel yeah this is a bit of a crapshoot. the third party pads i get for my k702s are actually a sound stage and signature improvement overall, but there are so many variables at play to begin with that it just comes down to "work with what you know"
@Gumball2415 i use a two-mic x/y recorder (zoom h2n) for field recording.

a lot of it is done manually by delaying a channel a few samples and filtering it, adding necessary reverb, etc. i used some plugins as well (panagement + psypan) but its the same idea.
did the thing; resources for me latest record are now up at https://heckscaper.com/resources/
