Trying to track down a famous satirical quote (maybe attributed to Stalin?!), along the lines of, "If the people choose the wrong leader, the leader must elect a new people"
Not quite that (obvs) but close.
Anyone know what I'm thinking of?
ETA: it's "Would it not be simpler, if the government simply dissolved the people and elected another?" (Brecht)
Thanks, @timo21!
I'd swear this place was designed by AI but it was built in the late 90s. So tired of water ending up where it shouldn't - over a quarter century of this madness. This time it's a leaky shower drain that has decided my home office is the best place to sequester grey water. Peeling back the ceiling drywall (wetwall? wetceiling?) the drain plumbing is almost impossible to access due to the fact that they installed drain directly over a joist. Let me stress this - they cut a small circular arc out of the joist that was just big enough to let the p-trap connect to base of the shower. And then - THEN - as if that wasn't enough, they ran the hot and cold water pipes horizontally across the base of the drain pipe and also through the joist, locking the whole thing together in a big immovable block.
Anybody in #Ottawa have a good experience with a plumber they'd recommend that might be able to sort this mess out? This is beyond my DIY abilities.
entry-level positions should also pay livable wages!
or else you’ll only hire people who are desperate or privileged
all workers deserve fair pay, even if they’re new to the field
Good move, Amtrak! Come on, corporations—do the right thing here; it’s actually good for business too!
