A bit late to the party but I just finished Brandon Sanderson's Tress of the Emerald Sea. It's an instant classic and reminds me of the Narnia books so much. It's quite possibly my favorite Cosmere book and that's saying a lot

And apart from certain 4th wall breaks, this would be a great first book recommendation to get into Sanderson. Final Empire would be a great follow up instead of the introduction
