for me, even one day a week would help to solve the lack of social groundedness or IRL community. Ideally 2-3 days a week, though. I see no reason to be in office 5 days a week. I should definitely clarify that in my post, good call out.

Admittedly, age could be a factor. I'm 32, so most of my 20s were spent in a room by myself with coworkers who, to my psyche, registered as little more than avatars. up until recently (last 2 years probably), this was fine for some reason, but then i started feeling a bit like a brain in a jar. when i socialize with people i did not choose as friends (or my own wife/family), it's typically via a digital surface of some kind. i started thinking about that the other day and thought, 'how bizarre!'. that's pretty much what gave rise to this post.

also, i've been spending way too much time on reddit. this is where the myopia and jadedness and distrust comes from, no doubt. i've since deleted these platforms, but i suspect if i didn't spend so much time alone in front of my computer i wouldn't spend as much time on social. i'd be able to 'actually socialize.'
