Last call for Orion Nebula.. the setting of Orion early in the evening sky marks the end of winter and the arrival of spring.

This is the nearest star-forming region to Earth at 1,500 light years, and many new stars are forming inside its gas and dust clouds.

Shot with 4.6 hours of exposure at Lake Sonoma, CA. #astrophotography

@breitensteinart thanks! I have my scope and camera on a mount that tracks the sky for long exposures. There’s actually two cameras, one of them just to monitor the stars and improve the guiding of the mount.

Andromeda Galaxy, our nearest galactic neighbor at 2.5 million light-years away.

I shot this with over 11 hours of exposure under dark skies (Mohave Desert near Joshua Tree).

@Areoff great photos and color, are you color grading with presets or manually?
@catherineryanhyde the new CometAlign module in PixInsight is what I used and was really happy with the results.
@catherineryanhyde Great capture, they are definitely a lot of work to process.

I shot the "green comet" (C/2022 E3) that's been in the media recently. It makes its closest approach to Earth on Wednesday, Feb 1st. It was only faintly visible with the naked eye in dark skies, but a two-hour exposure shows the greenish glow from carbon gas and a rarely seen antitail.

Martian sunrise! The Mars Perseverance Rover just used it's NavCams on Sol 691 to capture a blue sunrise over Jezero Crater. Some faint noctilucent clouds are visible as a bonus.
