@Allistar @taylorlorenz I don't disagree with that. Maybe you're right, it's the Candy Crush analogy that's driving me nuts about the concept. Writers do need to be able to make a living so money has to come in to the equation somewhere. This idea is just a particularly infuriating way to do that.

@Ben_Alpers But of course the policy is that you criticize Elon, you get banned. The higher your follower count, the more likely that you'll reach banned status. Bonus ban points to the blue checkmark crowd of the olden days.
@Allistar @taylorlorenz I think the micro transaction aspect of it is just an awful idea. It's just a new way to make money off of information that should be free.
@rajacexplains I've primarily used Twitter as a news source, and it was really easy to set up (give me NYT, WaPo, NPR and people who fit that genre). It seems impossible to get this from Mastodon. Please share tips if you have some.
