It's coming...

The ability to #search public posts by text (full text search) is coming tomorrow, Sept 21st, as part of Mastodon's latest update.

Only posts you set as "public" will be searchable, and you will also have the option to opt your public posts out of search in the new settings menu (shown below).

Posts with "unlisted" or "followers only" settings will remain unsearchable.

After launching our server and inviting friends to join, we have started looking in earnest at how to maintain safety as our community grows.

While we are in start up mode, we went ahead and took the extra cautious approach of using one of the larger safety lists to block servers who harbor accounts that violate our rules around racism etc. This is called FediBlocking.

We will revisit & update our approach after we get settled & learn more.
