fish 4.1.0 continues their proud tradition of destroying papercuts that others probably never even noticed 😎
at least that's the best i've thought of so far
the best actual solution to this would be if browsers supported a protocol for the fediverse (like fedi:// or something), and if the user didn't have a fediverse client designated, it would just open the post at its regular website
it's not surprising that elon leaned so far into fascism, not just because he's a moron, but also because fascism is capitalism in crisis. if you think it's your turn to be a societal vampire, you probably won't mind resorting to evil shit if you think it'll help you defend that
best i can think of is: your client keeps track of all servers it sees and treats links to them specially
it's also an issue, at least on the clients i've tried, when clicking a link to a post on another server. the link is opened like a regular link (i.e. on that server's page for it) rather than in your client. honestly, these kinds of UI papercuts really annoy me. i don't know if there's even a solution for it either, at least one that would work consistently and without heuristics
i'm a bit out of the loop on fediverse developments; is anyone aware of any effort to make it easier to follow a user on another instance whose profile you've stumbled upon by being linked to it from a website or w/e? like so that you don't have to type in your homeserver URL or copypaste their username into your homeserver
it's hard to believe that people will submit feature requests to free/open source projects--that they aren't forced to use, btw--that the dev works on by theirself in their free time & not only act entitled to it being done, but like they know better than them that it would be an "easy thing to do".
sorry to the person who messaged me on irc that i didn't see it until you were already logged off (just in case you see this post somehow). i updated the docs a bit with information that hopefully answers your questions (please let me know if not): https://github.com/defaultxr/cl-patterns/commit/0b05c6d6993745845118a7842d5e183f6b30146b

anyway, if anyone knows why "pipx install demucs" fails because "No such file or directory: '/tmp/pip-install-3bqpniv9/demucs_52f94c73899a40e387cc10bc479421b7/requirements_minimal.txt'", and more importantly, how to fix it, that'd be cool (not holding my breath though)
