if they were committed to preserving some of the old-school mmo feeling of ffxiv i could understand some weird bad friction points like the raid drop system. but they clearly aren't, so just make it a generic token that everyone gets one of and can spend on any type of gear. if you're gonna sand every rough edge off of this thing til it's a featureless sphere at least start with the stuff that is genuinely just aggravating and time-wasting for no reason
